GERMAN '88' DESKTOP REPLICA GUN
88 mm FLAK 41 cannon. Germany, 1943.
At the beginning of the war, the Luftwaffe had the need to have an anti-aircraft gun with a high ceiling and high-speed service that would improve the output produced on Flak 18 series from 1933. Rheinmetall-Borsig undertook the design, being released as the first Flak 41 in March 1943. The gun had a weight of 7.800kg and 11.240kg in transfer in action; 6.336mts length, initial velocity of 1000m per second and a 9.2kg projectile.
Incorporating an electric firing circuit, for those cases where PLS USE was in operation against ground targets. Its maximum vertical range was 15.000mts and a roof 10.000mts effective. In terrestrial use 10.4kg fired a projectile to a maximum of 19.700mts.
* The size became 88/L74.
* The gun was originally composed of three sections, but problems arose and was changed into two.
* The exit velocity, with the new barrel, increased to 1000 m / s.
* The recoil mechanism was enhanced to compensate for the rise in anti-aircraft role.
* The elevation was increased to +90 º. For ground targets remained the elevation from -3 °.
* The gun was mounted on a turntable.
This all metal replica of the classic German 88 features outstanding detail and adjustable side-legs and barrel. This one of our favorite desktop replicas yet!
